Kathrine Skibsted (1991) is a director who works within documentary, fiction and commercial. She’s currently a new member at the alternative film school Super16.

Kathrine grew up in provincials close to Randers. Her entry into being a film director was through documentary and it’s her natural interest to create honest and authentic films that have a social realistic narrative in them. She’s drawn by working with films that offer a critical perspective on social structures and norms within relations, gender, bodies, age, love and loneliness amongst others, because she thinks it’s important to renew our ideas and expectations to all of that. It is her biggest ambition to tell stories about the people she thinks are missing on screen. And that they can recognize themselves through her work.

She had her first appearances at CPH:DOX 2021 with two films; feature film ELSKER, ELSKER IKKE & and the short documentary FOREVER YOUNG FOREVER OLD – A LOVE STORY. ELSKER, ELSKER IKKE was nominated for the POLITIKEN:DANISH:DOX AWARD, afterwards streaming on DR TV and has been screened on several festivals in Europe.

Kathrine grew up in provincials in Jutland with a classic non-cultural upbringing, but somehow she always found herself having a desire and interest for photography, sewing clothes and designing rooms. Therefore it seems very natural for her to be a very visual director.
